Loretta L. McDonald of Hingham, MA passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024 at the age of 97. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final days. 

Loretta was born and raised in South Boston attending the Gate of Heaven parish schools. She married fellow South Boston resident, and FBI Special Agent Joseph C. McDonald. They traveled the United States as his career took them to cities throughout the country settling in Ridgefield, N.J. where they raised their two sons, and she was employed by the Prentice Hall publishing company. Prior to her retirement, Loretta worked for State Street Bank Investment group. She enjoyed family events, traveling and watching her grandkids and great grandkids develop through the years. She was an avid Boston and Boston College sports fan up to her final days. She even watched the Boston Celtics win their 18Th Championship! 

Loretta is survived by her children Joseph and his wife Barbara of Boxborough, MA and Kevin of Hingham, MA. She is also survived by 7 grandsons Brett (Jaclyn), Thomas (Alicia), Brian (Monica), Shane (Jackie), John, Ryan and David (Lucinda), 3 great grandchildren Chloe, Sienna and Daithi as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of Cornelius Donga and Catherine Larkin. Loretta was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph C. McDonald as well as her brothers Francis Donga, Cornelius Donga, and Edward Donga and her sisters Mary Foye and Ellen Lynch. Loretta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family and enjoyed a healthy life till the end. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday July 10, 2024 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2024 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Norwell Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice.
