Lois M. (Mugford) Scipione, a longtime resident of Hingham and summer resident of Chatham, formerly of Duxbury, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the Pat Roche Hospice Home after a brief illness. She was 83.
Born in Plymouth on March 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Loring R.C. and Minerva (Sprague) Mugford. Lois was raised in Duxbury and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Simmons College with a degree in business.
Before starting her family, Lois worked for the CIA in Washington, DC, Scudders Stevens & Clark in Boston and Price Waterhouse Coopers. While living in Hingham for many years she was a member and officer of the Hingham Mother’s Club, now the Hingham Women’s Club. Lois also worked as a real estate agent for the Hingham Real Estate Company. She had a talent and love for raising golden retrievers and they were a source of joy throughout her life. Active right up until her illness, Lois enjoyed golf, tennis, summers in Chatham, sailing at Pleasant Bay, and spending time with family.
Lois was the beloved wife of Richard S. Scipione, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Jeffrey C. Scipione and his wife Megan of Winchester, and Douglas L. Scipione and his wife Angela of Hingham. Lois was the loving grandmother of Emma and Eden Scipione, both of Winchester and Julia, and Jessica Scipione, both of Hingham.
Lois’ funeral services and interment will be held privately.
