Lionel W. Allaire, Jr.

Lionel W. Allaire, Jr. of South Weymouth, formerly of Hull, died peacefully at home on December 16, 2021, at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of Karin Allaire.

Born in Brockton, the son of the late Lionel and Doris (McManus) Allaire, he graduated from Brockton High School and Bridgewater State College. Early on, Lionel, fondly known as “Al” and “Pepe”, served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.  After the war, he returned to work at his father’s restaurant, Mary Hartigan’s in Dedham, MA.  He was a chef and bartender at several establishments before retiring in 2016.

He was a proud member of the Marine boxer detachment color guard and marched in numerous parades. Reading, trivia, playing cards, cooking, watching sports and spending time at the ocean were some of his favorite pastimes.  Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Loving father of Elaine Biester and her husband Jim of Oak Park, IL; Janice Berlinsky and her husband Rod Chudy of Burrillville, RI; Susan Whetstone and her husband John of Chepachet, RI; Cathie Jones and her husband Bob of Hull; Kristin Ludlow and her husband Matt of Mint Hill, NC; Michael Cusano of South Weymouth; and the late Raymond Allaire. Proud grandfather of Emily and Mack Biester; Raymond and Peter Berlinsky; Danny Munoz; Ryan, Emily and Tyler Whetstone; Christopher, Brandan, Shea and Tori Jones; and Katelyn Cusano. Great grandfather of Ella, Owen, James, Declan, Benjamin, and Maverick. Brother of Carol Foye of Plymouth, John Allaire of Easton, Jane Cronin of Barrington, RI, the late Richard Allaire, and the late Robert Allaire. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
