Linda Burgess (Bourget) Smith

Linda Burgess (Bourget) Smith, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Carver, died peacefully surrounded by love at her daughter’s home in Quincy on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the age of 76.

Linda was born in Brockton on April 14, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Paul Bourget and Joanne (Burgess) Kingan. Born and raised in Brockton, MA, Linda was a proud graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1965, and later earned her degree from Bridgewater State College.

Linda’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication. She began her professional journey in health care spending over 20 years serving the community at Cardinal Cushing Hospital (now known as Good Samaritan Hospital).  She ended her career in 2019, retiring as the dedicated office manager in the specialty of plastic surgery.  Linda left an indelible mark on the hearts of colleagues and patients alike. She was not only admired for her professionalism, but also revered for her vibrant personality.

Linda was the devoted mother of Michelle E. (Loto) Buckley of Bridgewater and Gina M. (Loto) Evans of Quincy. She was the loving and adored grandmother of Camden and Caeden Buckley, both of Bridgewater and Elizabeth Evans of Quincy. Linda was the dear sister of Kevin Kingan of Easton and the late Paul “Skippy” Bourget.

Linda will be remembered most for her infectious laugh, incredible sense of humor, and unwavering love and friendship for those around her. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on the many lives she encountered.

Among her many friends, Linda shared a lifelong bond with Mary Chiles, a friendship that brought her immense joy and companionship throughout the years. In addition to Mary, Linda formed special friendships with colleagues in the office, who became like family to her. Their shared experiences and support created a sense of belonging and camaraderie that enriched Linda’s life in countless ways.

Though Linda may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will continue to live on in the memories and hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for generations to come.

In honoring Linda’s memory, let us carry forward the love and laughter she brought into the world, keeping her spirit alive in our hearts each and every day.

Following cremation, Linda’s funeral services and interment will be held privately. A celebration of life to be organized at a later date. Details to follow.
