Lillian H. Murphy

Murphy, Lillian H. (Bergstrom) of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Murphy. Devoted mother of John R. Murphy and his fiance Lena Fillion of Canton and Steven A. and his wife Geraldine (McNicholas) Murphy of Charlestown. Cherished Nana of Marybeth, Justin, Ryan, Kaitlin, Colin and great-grandmother of Patrick. Lillian was a bookkeeper and former co-owner of Murphy’s Express for many years retiring in 1980. She was also a volunteer bookkeeper for St. Mark’s Men’s Club Bingo in Dorchester. Mrs. Murphy loved bowling, playing cribbage and spending time at her cottage in Raymond, New Hampshire. Her family describes her as a strong, practical, caring woman who took great pride in her Swedish heritage. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Thursday at 9 AM. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lillian may be made to Elder Services Plan of Harbor Health Building Fund, 2216 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02124.
