Leonidas G. Pappas

Leonidas Pappas of Sharon, MA passed away March 26, 2017 at the age of 75. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Panagiota Pappas, their two children Anargyros Pappas, and his wife, Becky, and Areti Zacharakis, and her husband, Emanuel, as well as his eight granddaughters.

The third of 9 children, Leonidas was born on November 22, 1941 in Vassara, Greece, a small village outside of Sparta.  That’s where he met the love of his life Panagiota Sakellaris at a young age. The two married at 17 years old and were inseparable ever since, spending 57 years in love as husband and wife.

Named after the warrior King Leonidas of Sparta, Leonidas was known for his strength, perseverance, wisdom, and love for his family. He was a hard working man, spending many of his years as a professional butcher in Greece, and he would continue that work in the United States after moving his family to Boston in 1970.

After growing a successful career as a self-made business owner in the United States, Leonidas was passionate about cooking and feeding his family, often found at the grill. At every special occasion, one would usually find Leonidas roasting lamb to perfection for his family and friends. No one did it better than him.

As the leader of his family, Leonidas set a strong example as a loving man, committed to working hard to support his children and granddaughters. His life lessons, laughter and love will live on in the memories of his family and friends. He will be loved and greatly missed by many.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday March 28 from 4-8 PM at St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree.

Funeral: Wednesday March 29 at 10 AM at St. Catherine’s.
