Parkes, Leo J. of Hull, March 15, 2009. Beloved husband of Elizabeth S. “Sandy” (Allen) Parkes of Hull. Loving father of Elizabeth S. Mansfield and her husband Sam of Weymouth and Amy E. Meschino and her husband Jay of Hull. “Beepa” to James McNamee of Weymouth, and Kathryn & Joseph Meschino of Hull. Brother of Marie Kenerson of Hull, Ann Murphy of MD, and the late Dorothy McCarthy, John, Richard, Robert and Donald Parkes. Brother-in-law to Harold, Nancy and Paul Allen of Hull. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. Leo’s life revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren, and his many friends. He was passionate about the ocean and enjoyed fishing, boating and lobstering. His boat was kept at the Spinnaker Island Yacht Club in Hull. Mr. Parkes graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1959 and received a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University in 1965. He entered the Massachusetts Army National Guard in 1960, and was honorably discharged in 1970. He began his career at Langley Corporation of Medford as a Sales Representative for the Boston territory from 1968-1977. This set him on a career path which led to his own business. Leo started All-Tech Materials Handling Equipment Corporation of Abington in 1977. He has been a long-time member and is the current President of the Rotary Club of Abington. He is a past President of the Hull Improvement Association, former Member of the Hull Conservation Commission, Member of the National Rifle Association, Life Member of the Friends of South Shore Hospital and was a Booster for the Hull High School Marching Pirates. He is remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to listen, his problem solving skills, and his simple philosophy to always put other people first. He delighted many children through the years in his role as Santa Claus. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Parkes may be made to the Rotary Club of Abington, Attn: Harold Sims, PO Box 2374, Abington, MA 02351.
