Lawrence “Larry” Crosby, 75 of Abington, Massachusetts passed away on November 8, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Boston on January 8, 1946, to Richard P Crosby, Sr and Marjorie (McNeil) Crosby (both deceased), Larry was the middle of 5 children. He grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts with his siblings Valerie J. Crosby Estes (deceased), Richard P Crosby, Jr, (wife Regina), Edwin C. Crosby (wife Patricia) and Cindy L. Crosby. In 1965 he enlisted in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam on the front lines as a combat engineer earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.
Larry was not afraid of hard work and was a laborer at General Dynamics Shipyard, Brady Enterprises and other companies throughout his life. He loved swimming, fishing and camping, played the harmonica and guitar, and supported wildlife conservation efforts, especially the plight of the elephant. He had a strong artistic nature and wrote poetry and music that chronicled his journeys (that began at an early age) within the United States.
He will be sadly missed and remembered by all as a loving man who would literally give the shirt off his back to help a soul in need. He was extremely proud of his nephews and families: Jason Crosby (wife Julie), Brien Crosby, Richard Estes, Niece Wendi (Crosby) York, and all his cousins.
A visitation will be held for friends and family at McDonald-Keohane Funeral Home, 40 Sea Street, North Weymouth on November 16, 2021 from 4-6pm to pay tribute to his extraordinary life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Larry to the organization below that supports military veterans: Legal Services Center (LSC) of Harvard Law School; for donations by mail, Please make your check payable to Harvard Law School, (with Legal Services Center written on the memo line) and send to: The Legal Services Center, 122 Boylston Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
