Lawrence H. Tittemore, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at St. Anne’s Hospital.
Larry was born in New Milford, Connecticut, cherished only child of the late Harmon L. Tittemore and Hazel M. (Haylett) Tittemore, both originally of Vermont. Larry attended Lafayette College and received his Master’s Degree in civil engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Larry had a long career as a civil engineer, including his own consulting company, and for many years prior to his retirement, working at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS). He taught civil engineering as an adjunct professor at Boston-area universities, including Tufts University. Larry was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors, Horseneck Beach, sports, especially baseball and the Red Sox, basketball, and folk music, and cared deeply about justice and underdogs. Raising his children in Weymouth, Larry was a baseball coach for many years and was President of the North Weymouth Little League. Larry strongly valued education and was one of the founding parents at the Old Colony Montessori School in Hingham, MA, where he had many roles, including President of the Board of Trustees. During his retirement he was a volunteer with the Westport Land Conservation Trust and WaterFire Providence, where he made many friends, and other music venues. He was a long-time member of Bakers Beach in Westport, MA.
Survivors include his son Matthew Tittemore of Reading, MA, his daughter, Lisa Tittemore of Arlington, MA, his four grandchildren, and his companion Nancy Papagno.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday 2-5 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
