Lauris J. “Joe” Chase

Lauris Joseph “Joe” Chase, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the age of 83.

Born in Maine, Joe moved with his parents Ben and Irene and his five siblings to Quincy as a teenager where he proudly lived for the remainder of his life. Joe was a three-sport athlete in his time at Quincy High School. After his playing days, he was honored with induction into the Quincy High School Football Hall of Fame.

Joe was a quiet, hard-working man with abundant strength and resilience.  He worked for Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 for more than thirty years doing sheet metal fabrication and installation. He also was a commercial clam digger for several years.

Joe was also always there for his family and friends, whether helping with home repairs, major renovations, or even digging out a basement by hand.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Joe was his children’s and grandchildren’s number one fan, attending all their sporting events, coaching Quincy Youth Hockey and Quincy Youth Baseball and even helping build the Quincy Youth Arena.  He was also an avid hockey player, playing for the Quincy Bald Eagles until he was 80.

Beloved husband of 58 years to Eileen C. Chase (McCarthy).  Devoted father of Kevin Chase and Anne of Milton, Brian Chase and Catherine of Hingham, Michaela Desmond of Peabody, Glenn Chase and Brynn of Marshfield and adored grandfather (aka Dede) to his eight grandchildren. Loving brother of Mary Giggey of Knoxville, TN, Mac Chase of Whitman, and Lucy Daru of Weymouth.  Joe is predeceased by his siblings: Martha Chase and Butch Chase.
