On Christmas Day, God gave Lauren Gabrielle Masse the gift of peace when he called her home into the arms of her Savior, Jesus, at the age of 34, after a long, hard-fought battle with addiction. Over the years, addiction stole many things from Lauren, but it never stole her love for God, and her desire to serve. Her last months were spent at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, seeking to grow personally, and draw closer to the Lord. She is described by her mentor as, “having a heart after God.” Her final days were spent at home with her four year old son, Griffin, whom she loved with all her heart. They built snowmen, played and decorated together, as she strived to make Christmas Day magical for her son. Lauren wanted to live, she loved her family, and she will be remembered by those that loved her as who she was at her core, and not how addiction tried to define her.
Lauren was kind, big-hearted, and nurturing. She was a fighter, and always tried to stand up for what she thought was right. At her best, she was a light; singing worship songs at church on Sundays, caring for her younger brothers and sisters, and always wanting to be around others. She was a gifted artist and creator, always drawing pictures and bringing her special touch around the house helping to prepare for every holiday. Her fondest memories were spent with her family at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, swimming, horseback riding and sitting around the campfire with her brothers, sisters and cousins.
Lauren’s memory will be cherished by her family that loved her deeply; her son, Griffin, her mother, Kathy, and her seven brothers and sisters; Jonathan Masse and his wife, Britney of Hanover, Kristen Bonitto and her husband, Louie of North Carolina, Michael Masse of Hanover, Jessica McKee and her husband, Nick of Hanover, Joshua Masse of Dorchester, and Rob and Jack Masse both of Hanover. Lauren is also survived by her grandparents, John and Janice Robinson of Weymouth, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, her niece and nephew, and close family friends. She is welcomed in heaven by her father, Bill.
Services for Lauren will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 1pm at the South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham, MA. Live-streaming will also be available for those unable to make it in person, please visit the YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt7z-EUXnil5kb_nk1pHRFQ. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude for the outpouring of love and generosity that has already flooded in.
