Walsh, Laura K. (Kelley) of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024 after a long illness.
Laura was born in Boston to the late Lt. Col. Edward J. and Mary E. Kelley. The valedictorian of the Class of 1969 at Cardinal Cushing Central High School in South Boston, Laura earned her bachelor’s degree in kindergarten-primary education from Boston State College in 1973. One of the first certified special education teachers in Massachusetts, she taught in both the Boston and Saugus Public Schools. A skilled seamstress, knitter, and crafter, she made the best Halloween costumes in town; her beautifully handcrafted costumes continued to be used in Weymouth Public School theatrical productions for decades after she first made them. A talented musician and lover of pets, Laura was never happier than when she was playing the piano or cuddling with her dogs.
Beloved wife of 46 years to John M. Walsh of South Weymouth. Loving mother of Allison C. Walsh and her husband, Gabriel N. Parker, of Plymouth, and Michael C. Walsh of South Weymouth. Dear sister of Donna M. Murray and her husband, Frank P. Murray, of Yarmouthport. Also survived by 2 grandchildren, Ethan E. Parker and Madison S. Parker, and many nieces and nephews.
All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston (www.arlboston.org).
