Laura J. Doherty

Laura J. Doherty (Solimini), a longtime resident of Quincy, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Monday, August 5th, 2024.

She was born in Weymouth on February 27, 1948, and was raised in Braintree. She was a graduate of Braintree High School. Laura was a crafter and especially loved to crochet hats, afghans and scarves while listening to her country music. Laura was always so proud to be able to sell the carefully crafted hats, afghans and scarves alongside her son Michael at his booth at the Raynham Flea Market every Sunday. She worked as a driver for The Ride and driving children with special needs for 10 years. Laura was a kind, loving person that always gave of herself. She was truly selfless and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She met her husband, and best friend, Charlie Doherty, doing what they did best, dancing in Dorchester. The two hit it off the night the met and were together for 35 years and married for 20 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Bob) Solimini and his wife, Erika, of Phoenix, AZ and Michael F. Henn of Quincy, MA. Laura is also survived by her granddaughters, Francesca, Adrianna, and Angelina Solimini of Scituate, her brother, Ronald Solimini and his wife Linda of Braintree, her cousins, her friends and her cherished dog companion, Skylar.

Laura was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. “Charlie” Doherty, and her parents Kathleen (Raines) and Charles Solimini.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family at the visitation on Thursday, August 15th from 9-11 AM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the visitation at 11 AM. Interment is private.
