Alsip, Larry J. of Quincy, died August 21, 2016 after a long illness.
Larry was born in Vienna Illinois at home on his family farm. Around the age of 10 he moved to the Chicago area until 1985 when his work moved him to Boston. Larry was a United States Navy Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a passionate husband and father. After his retirement, Larry stayed home to help raise his family and devote his time to his children. He was a coach for Wollaston T-Ball, Quincy Youth Baseball and Softball, St. Ann’s Basketball and any other team his children played for. Larry enjoyed painting and playing golf as well as teaching his children the love of the game. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Beloved husband of 27 years to Cheryl Cahill of Quincy. Loving father of Timothy Alsip, Jeffrey Alsip and Katie Alsip all of Quincy. Cherished son of the late Elmer and Mary Alsip. Caring brother of Peggy Allen of Illinois and the late Patricia Alsip, Elmer Alsip and Dawn Alsip. Also survived by his caregiver Tina Riley and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 9 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Larry may be made to Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC 20036-3604 or to The Children Hospital, Epilepsy Center, 300 Longwood Ave, Fegan 9, Boston, MA 02115.
