Lai-Wah Hui, of Holliston, Massachusetts, passed away on April 1, 2023 after an eleven month battle against pancreatic cancer. She grew up in China during the Cultural revolution and at a young age with great determination and against all odds made her way to the United States as an immigrant seeking a better future for her family and relatives. In the United States, Lai-Wah eventually gained citizenship and even without the resources afforded to those more fortunate, she was able to attain a college education at UMASS Amherst and later earned a Masters in Computer Science at Northeastern University. She had an illustrious career in software engineering, starting at Bell Labs in 1982, later at Digital Equipment Corporation, and eventually at Intel Corporation. Over the years, her hard work, talent, and perseverance eventually led to her status as a senior engineering manager at Intel. Lai-Wah only recently retired from Intel with great admiration and respect from her colleagues and peers.
Despite her successful career, Lai-Wah always put family first. She was a devoted and loving mother and wife. She was a caring and dutiful daughter. She was a supportive and kindhearted sister. Lai-Wah is the beloved daughter of Kun Ran He and the late Tak Ming Hui. She is survived by her husband Joshua Moy, mother Kun Ran He, brothers Allen Hui and Joshua Hui, and two sons Jonathan Moy and Matthew Moy.
Relatives, colleagues, and friends are respectfully invited to Lai-Wah’s funeral on Saturday, April 8th, 8:30AM-10:30AM at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St, Quincy, MA.
She will be laid to rest at Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA.
The family of Lai-Wah Hui would like to honor her memory by inviting all to donate to pancreatic cancer research through Project Purple.
