Kwei-Chi (Ho) Lin

Kwei-Chi (Ho) Lin, of Quincy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the age of 75. 

She married her college sweetheart, Peck-Sun Lin, in Brookings, South Dakota, and together they celebrated their golden anniversary this past September. 

Born in Shanghai, she was the devoted daughter of Chung-Ying (Lee) and the late Hung-Zai Ho.  As a child and young woman, she was a champion swimmer, and at National Taiwan University she excelled in her academic studies. She was awarded a scholarship to the University of Hawaii where she earned her Master’s degree in Genetics. She subsequently studied at South Dakota State University and the University of Delaware, before pursuing a career as a research scientist. She authored dozens of papers in the field of biomedical research.

The oldest of five siblings, Kwei-Chi spent her life as a beloved adviser, friend, and mother hen to her late brother Shi-Ta Ho, and surviving brothers I-Ping Hsia and Hsiao-Ping Ho, and sister Grace (Kwei-Li Ho) Chiang.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Linda Lin and her husband Ben Miller, her son Stephen Lin and his wife Sarah (née Schwerdel), and grandchildren Rebecca, Jonathan, Connor, and Owen, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Known for her selflessness, she never missed a birthday or special occasion. In her last days, she spent much of her time buying gifts and dinner ingredients in anticipation of a houseful of family for the holidays. She doted on her grandchildren and spent every moment she could with them in her arms, on her lap, and in her thoughts. Visitors to the Lin house were greeted by a warm reception and tables full of the best Chinese food to be found.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy on Friday, December 18, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
