Kimiko Lew

Kimiko Lew, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on October 26, 2024, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, at the age of 89. Born on July 15, 1935, in Motobu, Okinawa, Kimiko's life was a tapestry of dedication to her family, a testament to her resilience, and an embodiment of the warm spirit that touched everyone she met.

The beloved wife of the late John P.N. Lew for 55 years, Kimiko's love story began when she met her husband, a proud US Marine, while working at The New York Restaurant in Koza, Okinawa, which served U.S. military personnel. Their romance blossomed, leading her to move to Boston in 1964, and eventually settling in Weymouth in 1969, where she and John raised their family and built a life filled with joy and community.

Kimiko was the loving mother of Karyl Lew of Weymouth and John Lew, who, along with his wife Sue Raymond-Lew, reside in Burlington. She was the dear sister of Yoshi Cralley and her husband Dennis of Phoenix, Arizona. As a cherished Nana, she showered love and wisdom upon her grandchildren, Jordan Lew and his wife Ena of Hyattsville, Maryland, and Samantha Wright and her husband Colton of Manchester, New Hampshire. Her legacy continued to blossom with the recent arrival of her great-grandchild, Kiyo Lew. Kimiko's extended family, including many nieces and nephews, will fondly remember her nurturing presence and the warmth she brought to their lives.

Growing up on a farm in Motobu, Kimiko's early life was spent amidst the natural beauty of Okinawa. Her journey to the city of Koza by bus marked the beginning of a new chapter, where her work at The New York Restaurant not only led her to the love of her life but also allowed her to learn the English language and prepare American dishes.

Kimiko's interests and talents were many, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family. Whether it was attending family gatherings, enjoying a meal out, or exploring new destinations on cruises, Kimiko's joy for life was infectious. An incredible cook, her Kung Pao chicken and steamed gyoza were legendary, leaving a delicious legacy that her family will treasure and attempt to replicate for generations to come.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service at 11 AM at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston on Friday, November 1, 2024.
