Kevin J. Shannon

Kevin J Shannon of Weymouth, passed away at South Shore Hospital on December 16,2023. He was 71 years old.

Born in Boston in 1951, he was the youngest son of Victor and Mary (Starrs) Shannon.

Kevin grew up in Hyde Park, Ma.,graduating from Boston Technical High School and was a veteran of the United States Naval Air Reserves.

Kevin was employed as a Civil Engineer for the City of Boston Public Works Highway Division until his retirement.

Kevin loved nature and the outdoors,going on annual deer hunting trips with his brothers, nephews and friends. He enjoyed spending time camping at “The Land”, first in Ossipee, NH, then in Meredith, NH on Lake Winnepesaukee. He loved to have contests with the kids and supervise the nightly collection of wood for a campfire. He loved exploring new places , planning many trips with family and friends whether it be by car, sailboat,pontoon boat rides,motorcycle trips or traveling in an R.V. Every trip was always an adventure, especially because you were never absolutely sure the vehicle would get you back home again. Kevin looked forward to going to Florida during the winters enjoying the warm weather and golfing with his brothers.

Kevin was a private pilot and was most proud of building and flying his own aircraft. If he took you up for a ride in his plane, it was always exciting and memorable.

Beloved husband of Lorraine E. Shannon ( Cornwall) of Weymouth, Cherished Father to Scott and his wife Jillian of Hanson, Christopher and his wife Jordan Hathaway of East Bridgewater, and Julia  and her husband Mike McCormick of Weymouth.

Loving Grandfather to Owen Benjamin, Zachary James, and Ophelia Elaine Shannon.

Kevin leaves his beloved brothers, Victor and his wife Ann of Rockland, Alfred and his wife Earlene of Stoughton, and the late Robert Shannon and  his wife Susan.Kevin was a favorite Uncle to his many much adored nephews and nieces.

The family of Kevin Shannon will be holding a celebration of life memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave, Jamaica Plain, Ma. 02130
