Murphy, Kevin D. 67 Retired Quincy Police Detective of Hingham, formerly of Quincy, passed away suddenly on Sept. 19,2008. The beloved husband of Mary (Main) Murphy, Retired Quincy Police Officer. Kevin was born and brought up in Somerville. Son of the late John J. Murphy and Julia (Simmons) Murphy. He was a graduate of Don Bosco High School and received his Master Degree from Northeastern University. He served in the United States Navy. Kevin retired from the Quincy Police Department in 1999 after 32 years of proud service. Kevin was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed vacationing in Naples, FL. His greatest passion was attending his grandchildrens sporting and school events and spending time with his family and friends. Devoted father of Sean Murphy, married to Bonnie Murphy of Pembroke, Heather Murphy of Quincy and Noreen Murphy of Weymouth. Proud Papa of Bryanna, Vanessa and Kevin. Loving brother of John “Jack” Murphy of Cambridge, Sheila Barnes of Florida, formerly of Braintree, Joseph Murphy of Colorado and Kenneth Murphy of Wakefield. Son in law of Olga Main of Quincy. Kevin is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Davita Dialysis of Weymouth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Wednesday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
