He was a doting Farfar to Anna, Reese, Jake, Gabe, and Cameron. He also leaves his brothers, Ronnie and Ricky Knudsen and their wives, Lida and Kathleen Knudsen.
Ken and Penny were married on Valentine’s Day in 1970. They raised their family in Whitman for over 30 years. After starting his career as a union sheet metal worker, he parlayed his skills into his true calling and became a Sheet Metal instructor at Weymouth Vocational Technical School. During his 27 year tenure, he had the privilege of mentoring and positively impacting the lives of his students, many who remained in contact with him throughout the years. Ken was a talented craftsman who planned and executed projects with his students and his family. He built a vacation house in Maine where he and his family enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and boating for many years. He was an avid New England sports fan and spent his free time watching the games, always hoping for the win. He could also be found attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events as he beamed with pride seeing his grandchildren and their successes. In 2012, he received the gift of an organ transplant that saved his life. He respected the value of this gift and shared his extended time with friends, family, and his beloved dog. Kenny was a hard working family man who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and close friends will be respectfully invited to a memorial service and celebration of life on December 30th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kenny’s name to Massachusetts General Hospital, Att: Transplant Surgery, 125 Nashua Street Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
