Kathryn Aileen Mcbirney

On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, Kathryn, 43, died peacefully. Her courage, her determination, and her strength will forever inspire us.

The words most heard to describe Kath these past few days are “kind-hearted” and “a gentle soul”. She was pretty, sweet, engaging, independent, rambunctious, curious, creative, and artistic. Her unique spirit had its own drummer. She will ever be remembered for her incessant interruptions, and her crazy screams of laughter. Animals were magnetically attracted to her, especially her first childhood love, her dog Lady, who would patiently sit for hours while Kath painted Lady’s toes and put barrettes in her fur. She was loud and quiet, funny, rare, stubborn, loving, and brave, and throughout a challenging life of mental health and addiction issues, she remained positive.

She leaves a wonderful, caring son Joshua, his girlfriend Lindsey Pierre-Charles, and her grandchildren Tyrell, Kyleigh, and Nyanna. Josh was born when Kath was young; in some ways, they grew up together. He was the motivating factor, the catalyst that made her strive for a better life for both of them. She was so proud of him and loved him totally. Their hearts are forever inseparable.

Already missing her infectious smile, are her father John F. McBirney of Hull, and her mother Barbara M. Connolly and her husband William T. of Weymouth. She leaves her sister Jennifer Peck and her son Isaiah of Newington, Ct. and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to count. She was the granddaughter of the late William T. and Ruth P. McBirney, and the late James J. and Mary A. Farren.

Soon, whenever she enters our thoughts, we’ll softly smile and warmly laugh reliving the vibrance, the enthusiasm, the zest, the tenacity, and the adventurousness that she brought to life and to all those lucky enough to have known her.

All are welcome to a casual gathering on Sunday, February 11, beginning at 1:00 P.M. for “Memories Of Her Life” at the home of Barbara and Bill Connolly. Kath would have wanted any donations to be made to a local homeless or animal shelter of your choice.
