Kathleen Mary (Peters) Deschenes

Deschenes, Kathleen Mary (Peters) of Weymouth, passed away on May 27, 2024. She was 83.

Kathleen dedicated many years of service as an administrative assistant for the New England Telephone company. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her involvement in various associations, where she made lasting contributions until her retirement at the youthful age of 56.

Kathleen’s life was marked by her resilience and strength, particularly after the loss of her beloved husband in 1970, leaving her to raise their two children, then aged 7 and 9, on her own. She faced life’s challenges with unwavering determination, always putting the needs of her children first and sacrificing much to ensure their happiness and well-being.

Despite the demands of single parenthood, Kathleen remained a social butterfly, known as an avid card player and for her love of a good cocktail in the evening, as well as her fondness for Chinese cuisine. Her vibrant spirit and warm presence made her a joy to be around. After retiring, Kathleen embraced the sunny skies of Florida, where she spent 28 blissful years, basking in the love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who became the light of her life.

Those who knew Kathleen will remember her as a loving, gentle, and passionate soul. Her kindness touched the hearts of many, and her legacy of love will continue to live on through the cherished memories she created with her family and friends. Kathleen’s life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her gentle guidance and passionate heart will forever be a beacon for those she leaves behind.

Predeceased by her husband George H. Deschenes. Loving mother to Donna Stamatis and her husband David of Wellfleet and George Deschenes of Weymouth. Grandmother to David, Ashley, Matthew, Stephanie, Nicole, and Alyssa. Great grandmother to Archer, Calla, and Ada. Sister to Ethel, Jack, Bobby, and predeceased by her brother Bill.
