Kathleen M. Harty born April 28, 1943 in Boston, Mass. Daughter of the late John F. Harty and Helen (Finn) Harty. Kathleen “Kathy” Harty grew up in West Somerville with her parents and five siblings in a two -family home. Downstairs were an extended family of maternal grandparents and an aunt and uncle. Kathy attended St. Clement School from grades 1-12 graduating in 1961. She was a Cheerleader for St. Clement’s football games. Kathy chose education as her career, graduating from Salem State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She attained a Masters Degree in Education from Leslie University. Kathy taught Third and Fourth grade classes at various public schools in Somerville over the years.
Kathy had an abiding interest in Irish culture, including: history, writing, art and especially music. She visited Ireland many times over the years with friends and family. In her early years, she was an enthusiastic weekends skier, traveling to the White Mountains. She had many long-time friendships stretching to high schhol and college years, frequently dining out, attending films and lectures.
She is pre-deceased by her brothers John J. Harty and Joseph K. Harty. Kathy is survived by her sisters Mary (Harty)
Buckley of Quincy and Claire (Harty) Diminico of Hingham, her brother Paul Harty of Peabody and her brother in law James Buckley of Quincy.
