Fratus, Kathleen G. (Williamson) – of Quincy died peacefully in her sleep on November 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was 77 years old.
Kathleen (Kaye) was born and raised in South Boston and attended South Boston High School. She was also a graduate of UMass Boston and Cambridge College.
For many years she worked at New-Wal, Inc. a TV and Air conditioning business in Newton. After leaving the company, Kathleen went on to become the first woman in the United States to be certified to teach Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). She began her teaching career at Quinobin Vocational High School, and then moved on to Madison Park Technical Vocational High School. After retiring from the Boston Public School system, she launched her own tutorial business, The Learning Enhancement Center, Inc. that focused on preparing students for standardized tests.
During her lifetime, Kathleen lived in Taiwan, Panama, and California before settling in Massachusetts. She loved to travel to Florida, the Caribbean and Europe.
Kathleen earned her private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying up and down the East coast. She loved to cook, was an avid reader and enjoyed photography. She especially loved time spent with her large extended family and hosting her annual summer cookout at her Cape Cod vacation home.
Kathleen was the daughter of the late Daniel J. Grant and Mary (Farrell) and the beloved wife of the late Billy-Joe Williamson and the late Robert E. Fratus.
Loving mother of Kathleen Martell and her husband David of East Bridgewater, Laura Carbonneau and her husband Steven of Wareham, and the late Lawrence S. Williamson. Dear step-mother of Gary Fratus and his wife Jean of Holbrook, Lynn Sharek of New York, and the late John Fratus and his wife Margaret of Franklin. Cherished sister of Elizabeth (Betty) Molloy, Louise Kelly, and Virginia MacKay, all of Quincy, Diane Coco of Yarmouth and Daniel Grant, of Bedford, Massachusetts.
Kathleen was a loving Nana to 18 wonderful grandchildren and 3 beautiful great grandchildren and the aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Father Bill’s & MainSpring, 422 Washington Street, Quincy, MA 02169. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy
