In Loving Memory of Kathleen Daly
Kathleen Daly, a beloved matriarch, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 26, at the age of 98, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Louisburg, County Mayo, Ireland, on February 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Honora (Hester) O’Malley.
In 1947, Kathleen immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, with dreams of a brighter future. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering determination were the cornerstones of her life, leaving an indelible mark on her family and the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. A devoted wife, Kathleen shared a lifetime of love and companionship with her husband, Leo Daly. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home for their seven children, instilling values of hard work, compassion, and a deep connection to their Irish heritage. Kathleen was a pillar of strength for her family, offering love, guidance, and support throughout the years. Her kitchen was a hub of activity, filled with the aromas of Irish cuisine and the laughter of family gatherings. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her kindness touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. In addition to her role as a dedicated mother, Kathleen was a proud and loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her wisdom and stories of the old country enriched the lives of the younger generations, fostering a strong sense of family and cultural identity.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Leo Daly of Weymouth, her seven children, Kathleen Ahern and her husband James of Weymouth, Leo Daly and his wife Heidi of VT, Francis Daly of Weymouth, James Daly and his wife Donna of Milton, Kevin Daly and his wife Amy of Pembroke, Maureen Calvi and her husband Bob of Carver, and Eileen Daly of Braintree, and her siblings, Patrick O’Malley and his wife Elaine of Baldwinville, and Ellen Skehill and her husband Patrick of Roslindale. She will be dearly missed, but forever remembered for her grace, kindness, and the enduring love she shared with those lucky enough to call her family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 6-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home South Weymouth at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her legacy of love and resilience live on in the hearts of those she touched.
