Kathleen E. Bevilacqua, 87, of Hingham, MA, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2023. Kathleen was born on April 2, 1935, to Richard and Catherine Lieneck in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn in 1953.
In 1953, she met Michael Bevilacqua, and they wed in 1955, going on to raise 4 children. She is survived by those 4 children Michael, Jr. (and his wife Ann) of Norwell, MA, Marianne (and her husband Kevin Harding) of Pawley Island, SC, Richard (and his wife Elena-Lee) of West Hartford, CT, and Steven (and his wife Kathy) of West Chester, PA. She and Michael raised their family in Wantagh, Old Bethpage, and Nissequogue in New York. For the past three years she has resided in Hingham, MA where she faced many new adventures in her mid-eighties. She is also survived by her sister Rosemarie Felton and her brothers Richard, Dan and Frank Lieneck.
When Kathleen had Michael Jr, she dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother. Kathleen excelled at supporting her children through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Kathleen also took great pride in her twelve grandchildren Elizabeth Johnson and Michael J. Bevilacqua III, Sarah Kate Salerno, James, Michael and Dan Harding, Marialena, Christiana and Michael J. Bevilacqua and Andrew, Michael G and Matthew Bevilacqua as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Kathleen worked for many years as a medical officer manager for two medical practices and was a volunteer EMT for the Nissequogue Fire Department. Kathleen was a passionate homemaker and gardener and when she was not filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found walking her dogs or on the links working on her golf game where she made many friends. We will miss her greatly. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1990.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Michael J and Kathleen E Bevilacqua Family Scholarship at the University of Scranton (University of Scranton, Advancement Office, 800 Linden Street Scranton, PA 18510-4699). Please specify the scholarship’s name. A funeral mass will be held on January 13, 2023, at Sts Philip and James Church in St. James, NY.
