Katherine Theresa (Kelly) Hanson

Katherine Theresa (Kelly) Hanson, of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire and formerly of South Boston and Quincy, died peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Bourne Manor Nursing Home. She was 77.

Born in South Boston on July 4, 1943, she was raised in Dorchester and South Boston and was the daughter of the late Honorable Richard Kelly, former State rep. and Katherine (Berlo) Kelly and attended local schools.

Katherine devoted her life to her family. She was a caregiver by nature and was a woman of great faith. Katherine lived her life in accordance with the virtues of faith, hope and love. In her spare time Katherine enjoyed cooking and baking. She was known for her spumoni’s, potato pancakes and chocolate pudding cake. Katherine was also a savvy shopper. She would coupon better than anyone, so much so that when she came home from the store, the bags were full and the store paid her money. Katherine also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, sitting in the sun and going to the beach, Castle Island, decorating for every holiday and most importantly spending time together with family and friends.

Katherine was a beautiful person who was genuine, kind, friendly, warm and sweet. Her life lessons and example are part of her legacy that continue through her family. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

Katherine was the beloved wife of the late Robert Hanson, who died in 2013. She was the devoted mother of Kathryn Landry of East Sandwich, the loving Mimi to Krystal Landry and the loving Gigi to Kaylani Starr Landry of Plymouth. Katherine was dear sister of William Kelly and his wife Elaine of Braintree and Richard Kelly and his wife Dorothy of Florida. Katherine was so loved by many close friends and family including Donna, Terry, Frank, Rob, Jamie, Mike and Christine and many more.

A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Divine Mercy Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy.
