Katherine M. Mulvaney

Katherine M. (Guilderson) Mulvaney, aged 89 of North Weymouth, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 30, 2016.

She was born on October 2, 1927 in Somerville, MA to the late Mary (Galvin) Guilderson and Hugh L. Guilderson.  Katherine or as many referred to her as “Kay”, was raised and educated in Roslindale and a graduate of “Rozzie High”. Always proud to talk of her roots and “the love of her life” her dear beloved husband Robert J. Mulvaney Sr., who she was truly blessed to be married to for 54 wonderful years.  Roslindale is where it all began for her!  Her life only got better becoming a Mom, with the first 5 of her 9 children being born there.  Then there was the move to North Weymouth, where she resided at her home with her family for over 65 years. An additional 4 children were born there, making her in what she would call her most proudest of accomplishments…the “mother of 9”.

Katherine was a very devoted parishioner to St. Jerome’s Church, where she participated in daily mass.   She belonged to The St. Jerome’s Woman’s Sodality and Guild and she was involved in everything that revolved around her great faith, family and friends.  You would often find her volunteering for a CYO trip with one of her children or many a special event at St. Jerome’s School.

Katherine enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling to many places with her family by her side, from the West Coast to Cape Cod, road trips, cruises and many family adventures.  She spent winters in Florida, after Bob’s retirement, creating wonderful memories wherever she was. She knew what was important, what mattered and who mattered, but most important to her in her life, was the time spent with her family and friends.

Her legacy lives on in her children she loved so much., Kathy Brennock and her husband Ed of Cohasset, Robert J Mulvaney Jr. of Vero Beach, FL, Richard Mulvaney and his wife Jeannie of North Weymouth, Maureen Giacobbe and her husband Jake of Braintree, Jack Mulvaney and his wife Melinda of Marysille, WA, Bill Mulvaney and his wife Sue of Winthrop, Marianne McCann and her husband Paul of Weymouth, Michael Mulvaney of North Weymouth and Dianne Stearns and her husband Larry of Hanover.  She was so proud to say she was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren (and more on the way).

She was the loving sister of Mary (Guilderson) Norton of West Roxbury and cherished sister-in-law Marie (Mulvaney ) Melanson of Mashpee.  She was predeceased by her loving cousin Ruth Boyle of Stoughton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. Each and every one of their lives was enhanced with her great love & zest for life. They all considered Aunt Katherine… the “life of the party”

A special thanks to the staff who cared for Katherine at Harbor House and Hospice, and all those who previously cared for her over the years.
