Katherine “Kay” Gent

Katherine “Kay” Gent, age 87, a longtime resident of the Weathervane in Weymouth, formerly of Pembroke, Braintree and Hanover, died peacefully, Friday, December 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born in Cohasset MA to Frank and Carmella Pagliaro. She was wife to the late Gerald Gent to whom she was married from 1959 until his passing in 2005.

Kay was the cherished mother of Edward Gent and his wife Mairelena of Plymouth, and Karen Gent Campanale and her husband Michael of Braintree, adored grandmother to Rachel and Jacob Gent and Francesca and Gianna Campanale. She was a loving sister in law to Mary (Gent) Malouin of Cumberland RI.

Kay was a loving longtime companion to the late Eugene “Nick” Tower whom she was with for over 16 years and will also be sorely missed by the Tower family. Prior to her passing, Kay was suffering from a broken heart having lost Gene in May of this year and she was never able to recover from the loss of her love.

Kay is also survived by many beloved cousins and friends, all of whom will remember her loving spirit and warm, welcoming smile.
After graduating from Cohasset High School, Kay attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked many years as a secretary, and then was a very popular, well-known long-time waitress and hostess at Bella’s restaurant in both Braintree and Rockland. She also enjoyed her work in a law office and as a nanny, instilling a sense of pride in work in both her children.

Mostly, people will fondly remember Kay as a spitfire and a force to be reckoned with, as she had knowledge and opinions on a variety of topics and loved getting together with family and friends and sharing stories.
