Katherine “Kay” Bavis

Bavis, Katherine “Kay” of Hanover, formerly of South Boston, May 13, 2006. Daughter of the late Katherine (Connolly) and John J. Bavis. Beloved mother of Beverly McKee of Hanover, Michael Xidea of South Boston and Ronald Xidea of Hobe Sound, FL. Loving grandmother of Deborah Paine, Brian McKee, Michael Xidea, Ronald Xidea and the late Anthony Giannone. Sister of Robert Bavis of South Boston and the late John, Larry, Tom, Richard, Helen Mack, Geraldine McDermott, Mary Dalton and Evelyn Lorraine Bavis. Lifelong friend of Doris Stohl of Weymouth. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Mass in Celebration of Katherine’s life in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover Friday at Noon. A blessing and private graveside service were held earlier in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Katherine was born and raised in South Boston. She lived in Hanover for over 30 years before moving to Harbor House Nursing Home in Hingham. Golf was a favorite activity for Katherine which led her to join the Rockland Women’s Golf League. She also enjoyed painting (taking courses at the Boston Museum of Arts School), crocheting, reading, cooking gourmet meals and traveling with her friends to many locales, including Europe and Africa. Her family remembers her as the life of the party. She was first on the dance floor and the last to leave, all the while looking impeccable. She lived life to the fullest and devoted her life to her family. She leaves a void that can never be filled and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations in memory of Katherine may be made to the Mark L. Bavis Leadership Foundation, PO Box 15001, Boston, MA 02215.
