Katherine “Kay” Ellen (Hennessey) Purtle, 89, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, died peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2015, at South Shore Hospital.
Kay was a devoted and loving mother to Susan of Weymouth and Richard of Florida and was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Daniel W. Purtle, her youngest son Robert, and her three younger brothers, Arthur, Robert and Paul Hennessey. In addition to her children, Kay is survived by her sister-in-law Marion Hennessey; daughters-in-law Audrey Purtle and Marcia Purtle; and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kay loved being a homemaker, and delighted in serving her home baked goods to all who visited. She was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church for 61 years and also worked for 18 years at the Colonial Nursing Home in Weymouth. Kay enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, keeping in touch with everyone near and dear and spending time with her family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
