Mullen, Katherine E. (Bischoff) of Quincy, age 91 died October 17, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Mullen. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas R. Mullen and his wife Rosalind of Milton, William J. Mullen and his wife Hong of Quincy, Loretta DeBettencourt and her husband Ted of Oak Bluffs, John G. (Jerry) Mullen and his wife Susan of Quincy, Francis X. Mullen and his wife Barbara of Hanover and Joseph D. Mullen and his wife Maryanne of Quincy, her sister, Josephine Kindamo of Marshfield and her two brothers Karl Bischoff of Canton and William Bischoff of New Jersey. Katherine is also lovingly survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great -grandchildren. Katherine was raised in Mattapan and moved to Quincy after marrying. She raised her six children in her Wollaston hill home which was the site of constant large gatherings of family and friends. She was a graduate of Hyde Park High School’s class of 1939 and her Yearbook said of her “Kay is that brown-eyed lass that can never be found without a smile!”. She remained close throughout her life to her group of girlfriends from her childhood and high school years that were affectionately known as “The Gabby Daffies.” She had a love for the beach and ocean especially at Ocean Bluff in Marshfield. Katherine was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. She was a long-time member of the Mary Ann’s women’s club at St. Ann Church in Quincy. Most of all Katherine loved her family who were the cornerstone of her life. She will be missed by all who had the joy to have known her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 1-5 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10am. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Quincy.
