Katherine E. Burke

Burke, Katherine E. (Bleidorn) of Weymouth, died May 8th, 2014, she was 67.

Beloved mother of James B. Coughlin and his wife Kerrie of Hingham, Patrick J. Coughlin and his wife Lori of Hanover and Katherine F. Anderson and her husband Jason of Hingham.  Cherished Grammie to Gracie, Will, Sean, Luke, Mary, Nicholas and Zachary.  Beloved sister of 11 siblings and their families. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.  Former wife of James Coughlin.

Katherine was a true angel sent to help those in need.  After raising her family, she started work as a teacher for the Head Start program in Quincy, MA. She cherished her time helping children in this program and looked for additional ways to help. She took a case manager position at the Mary Martha Learning Center in Hingham, MA which allowed her the opportunity to work with families. After some time working with mothers and children, her calling was clear; she decided to go back to school and obtain a degree in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts. She became a state licensed social worker and went to work for the Temporary Home for Women and Children in Boston, MA, the oldest women and children shelter in Massachusetts. She received immense joy and satisfaction working with her clients, their families and her co-workers for the past ten years.

When not busy with work, Katherine enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling.  Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her seven grandchildren.
