Katherine B. Joyce

Joyce, Katherine B. (Greene) 92 of Quincy, died November 1, 2014. 

Katherine, known as Kay all her life, grew up in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School. After moving briefly to Dorchester in the 1960s, she lived in North Quincy for more than 45 years.  As a young wife and mother, Kay worked at Blue Cross, Blue Shield and for Jordan Marsh but as her family grew; she focused on caring for her husband, raising her children and managing their home.  When her children grew up, Kay continued to nurture and care for kids working in the Quincy Public Schools and providing love and direction to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Later Kay had great fun working along with her husband and sister for her son Tom’s company, Needle Technology.  Kay liked to bake and sew but most of all she liked walking every where she could and loved taking long directionless shopping excursions with her sisters.  Kay was the core of her family and will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Beloved wife of 65 years of the late Joseph P Joyce.  Loving mother of Beverly Marandett & husband Mark of Quincy (formerly Derry, NH); Robert Joyce & wife Jena (Kirsch) of La Jolla, CA; Ann Ansary & husband Haress of Centennial, CO; and the late Thomas Joyce and his wife Stasia (O’Connell) of New Rochelle, NY.  Devoted Grandmother of Kerry Kiley, Kristen O’Hara, Kelsey Johnsen, Leyla and Zyed Ansary and Nora Joyce.  Great Grandmother of Brooke Johnsen and Patrick and Reade O’Hara.  Daughter of the late Peter and Barbara (McDonough) Greene.  Caring sister of Margaret Keenan of Roslindale, MA and Barbara Eveland of Madison, WI.  Also survived by her longtime friend and caregiver Marion Foley of Braintree and many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to a 10AM Funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Church, Quincy. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
