Katharine (Kay) A. (Healy) Hassey of Hingham, formerly of South Yarmouth and Belmont, passed away peacefully September 20, 2021 at the age of 93.

Kay was the daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor Healy, beloved wife of the late Deacon Richard (Dick) J. Hassey, loving mother of Richard F. Hassey of Wilmington, Edward Hassey of Carlisle, Kevin Hassey of OH, Maryellen Boyd of North Attleboro, and Katharine Anne Hassey of Hanover, and sister of Eleanor Marie Healy of Hingham. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Kay was born February 16, 1928 in Somerville MA. She graduated from Regis College in 1949 with degrees in Math and Physics and began her career at GE. Shortly thereafter, she met her true love, Dick. Married in 1951, Kay settled in as homemaker and mother.  As her children grew, she developed her own private math tutoring following with unique interest in those with differing learning skills. She also enjoyed being a ‘Deacon’s wife’ and all that it entailed.  Over the years, Kay’s hobbies included swimming and time at the beach, golfing, knitting and gardening. For many years, she wintered in Florida. Most of all, she loved being Nana.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouthport.
