Karin Patel, of Hingham, also of Dayton, OH & Clarendon Hills, IL passed away peacefully at the age of 46 surrounded by her loving family on August 22nd after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer and its lengthy side effects.

Born in Dayton, OH, Karin is the beloved daughter of Louis Rath of Dayton, OH and the late Beverly (Vescio) Rath.  Karin’s spirit will be carried on by her loving husband Rajesh Patel, her loving daughter Rachel and loving son Jacob Patel all from Hingham.  She is also survived by her aunt, Jane Duke, of Dayton, OH.

She was raised in Dayton and attended high school at Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School.  Karin then went on to Miami University in Oxford, OH, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree.  After graduation, she moved to Chicago to begin her accomplished career in human resources management and eventually where she met her husband and started her family.

In Karin’s spare time she was active within the Clarendon Hills and Hingham communities and being an avid reader participated in book clubs. Karin was a selfless and strong woman who devoted her life to her children and family and made friends everywhere she went with her quick wit and sense of humor and will be missed.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during Karin’s visiting hours on Friday, August 27th, from 10am-1pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.  Private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Karin’s name to support cancer research to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA.
