Mafera, Karen E. (Sewell) of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving children. She was 64.
Born on April 15, 1958 Karen was the daughter of the late David Sewell and Ann Dionne, loving stepdaughter of Henry Dionne.
Karen enjoyed her career as a librarian. She spent over 25 years as a librarian in both Weymouth and Sharon public libraries- she founded the Library on Wheels Program in Sharon. Prior to her career as a librarian, she worked in many nursing homes, caring for others was a special gift Karen carried through her life. One thing that Karen adored more than her career was her family. She was so proud of all four of her children. Karen had many passions in her life. She loved traveling, especially to warmer climates, she was a seafood enthusiast, and loved music and dancing- especially the Blues- her favorite was the Racky Thomas Band. She enjoyed cooking, and learning new recipes and tricks in the kitchen. Karen loved to read, cross stitch, spend time with her family and friends and watch tv. She found comfort in the outdoors- specifically the beach and watching the sunset over her back deck. Karen had a knack for making friends everywhere and anywhere she went, she was quick witted and enjoyed going on adventures. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was a Christian at heart, and a long time member of the First Church of Weymouth, Karen relied heavily on her faith.
Loving mother to Stacy Mafera and Rob Howe of Norton, Miranda Mafera and Gregg Miller of Plymouth, Jaclyn Molloy and Robert Molloy of Norwell, and Zachary Mafera and Nicole (Seaman) Mafera of Whitman. Cherished G-Ma to Bobbo and Jack Molloy, and the late Gabriella Howe. She also leaves behind her dog, Moxie, and her Uncle Norman Belcher of Las Vegas. Karen was a loving sister to Malcolm Sewell, Greg Sewell, Diana Johnson, Tamara Sewell, Joseph Dionne, Nancy Mederios, Ellen Pihl, Fred Dionne, Michael Dionne. She was the former spouse of Michael Mafera and cherished daughter-in-law to Betty Mafera. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
