Karen E. Griffin

Griffin, Karen E. (Griffin) of Weymouth, passed away August 31, 2023. Karen was born in Pittsfield and raised in The Berkshires in Dalton, MA. She was a graduate of Berkshire Community College and St. Joseph’s College in Maine. For several years, Karen had a distinguished career as a Registered Nurse at Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain before retirement. She was a valued volunteer for the Whipple Center and enjoyed teaching young children how to read. Karen also enjoyed the Boston Ballet and appreciated literature and arts. A favorite pastime of Karen’s was sailing with Bryce and enjoying time on the dock of their home for 35 years. 

Loving daughter of the late Thomas H. Griffin, Jr. and the late Emily C. (Veltri) Griffin. Beloved wife of 25 years to Bryce Grefe of Weymouth. Loving sister of Nancy Griffin and her husband Dale Ellsworth of Dalton and Thomas M. Griffin and his partner Deb Soule of Hope, ME. Cherished aunt of Annalise Ellsworth and Griffin T. Ellsworth both of Dalton, Shyanna Mosser and grandnieces Azalah Haymore, Leeanni Haymore and Rhylynn Melton all of Minnesota. Karen was predeceased by her beloved niece Jesse M. Griffin. She was also survived by her brother in law Mark S. Grefe, his wife Sandy, many cousins and close friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea St. (off Rt. 3A-Bicknell Sq.), Weymouth at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. A burial shall follow at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In loving memory of Karen, please consider a donation to Childrens Hospital in Boston.
