Kalam A. “Harry” Tasselari

Tasselari, Kalam A. “Harry” of Quincy, age 98, died peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2011, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 65 years of Helen (Simo) Tasselari of Quincy. He is also survived by his loving son Don and his wife Mary of Plymouth, his loving sons Paul and John of Quincy, his loving grandsons Anthony & Matthew, and their mother Diane, all of Foxboro. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was born in Albania, and left home at the age of 13. He came to this country and proudly served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant, Company B, 101st Infantry, 26th Yankee Division. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 613 of Quincy, a life member of the DAV, and a member of St. George’s Orthodox Cathedral of S. Boston. He enjoyed his garden, playing cards and a trip to the casino. Many years ago he was excited and honored to have traveled with his dearest wartime comrades of the Yankee Division back to parts of Europe that his regiment had liberated during WWII. They followed the actual route they had traveled during the liberation and actually met with families they had met back in the war. He was so proud of that trip. Harry will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who were blessed to have known him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Service to follow in St. George’s Orthodox Cathedral, 523 E. Broadway, S. Boston, at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harry’s name to the YD Memorial Club of Boston Scholarship Fund, Inc., c/o Ed Looney, 71 Church St., Milton MA 02186.
