June M. Hendry

Hendry, June M. (Delaney) of Squantum, died on December 07, 2010 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Richard A. Hendry. Devoted mother of Richard A. Hendry, Jr, Frank Hendry, Pamela O’Neil and Alan Hendry, all of Squantum and the late David Hendry. Cherished Grammie of 7 grandchildren and Gigi to 3 great-grandchildren. June has lived in Squantum for 56 years. She proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. As a woman always ahead of her times, June had many jobs throughout her life. She owned her own hair salon before selling it and going to work for Kemper Insurance, CNA Insurance and then Warren’s, private law firm with her brother. June was an incredibly talented, self taught, piano player and she could be seen at various concerts, recitals, and school plays. She also sang in the Star of the Sea Choir and for the Sweet Adelines for 22 years. She was a volunteer at the Quincy Medical Center Gift Shop and at Mass Respiratory Hospital after her husband’s passing. June mostly cherished her role as a mother and was active in all of her childrens’ activities growing up, including boyscouts, girlscouts, CYO, Band Parent Boosters and more. She was a remarkable woman and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Monday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10 AM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of June may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road SW Suite 202c, Lilburn, GA 30047.
