Julie M. DiScipio, of Quincy, formerly of Lynn, died peacefully in her home on Monday, April 29, 2024. She was 89.
Julie was born in Lynn on July 22, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary A. (Peluso) DiScipio. She was raised in Lynn, attended local schools, and graduated from Lynn High School. Julie continued her education, earning a master’s degree.
Julie’s career was in education and religious life. She retired as an educator for the Town of Holbrook Public Schools. Before entering the education field, Julie was a Religious Sister of Notre Dame of Namur.
Julie was a woman of faith and lived her life through the Christian virtues of faith, hope and love. In a great sense, Julie has been preparing for returning home to God her entire life. First as a beloved child of caring parents, then for many years as a Religious Sister of Notre Dame of Namur, and finally as a caretaker of her mother and loyal member of her secular Carmelite Community.
Her spiritual name, Julie of the Presence of God, was divinely inspired as she prayed in the Holy Land on one of her many pilgrimages. Many witnessed Julie’s beautiful charism throughout the years, when she led the Espousal Community as President, and generously shared her wonderful gifts of music, as organist and song leader for Masses!
Julie always offered new insights and enthusiastic ideas for formation studies; her signature was ‘Excellence’ in everything she did, whether in writing icons or choosing hymns. Beauty surrounded her in life. Her home and gardens were filled with gorgeous color and artistic expression!
Even a few weeks ago Julie carefully researched everything she studied to keep Truth very close. She was moved by truth—expanded by truth—and revealed herself as loving God by the readings she chose. Her mind has continued to wax brilliant even at the age of 89!
Julie was the dear sister of the late Benjamin DiScipio. She is also survived by her five nieces and nephews.
Julie will be interred privately in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Julie’s name to the charitable organization of one’s choice.
