Judith “Judy” Travis

Judith “Judy” (Bartlett) Travis, 83, passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2021 at her home in Hingham surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Judy was the daughter of  Robert and Dorothy Bernagozzi Bartlett born August 16th,1938. Judy grew up in Manomet and spent much of her time on Priscilla beach. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from nursing school at Newton Wellesley Hospital and became a registered nurse.

On July 21, 1961 Judy married her late husband Roger E. Travis and they moved to Hingham, MA to raise their 2 daughters Jill and Amy. In her younger years Judy enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball and being a member of the PTA. She also enjoyed spending time with her “Liberty Pole ladies” while working part time at Conte’s Dress Shop. Judy was an avid reader and a big Boston sports fan attending many Celtics and Red Sox games over the years.

After her late husband’s passing in 2007, Judy moved to the Hingham Shipyard where she met a wonderful new group of “ladies” with whom she enjoyed playing bocce, cards, bowling and drinking skinny margaritas by the pool. Judy cherished spending time with her 5 grandchildren and loved to spoil them by taking them shopping, which everyone knows she excelled at.

Judy is survived by her daughter Jill Travis Gilbert, husband Steven Gilbert of Hanover and granddaughters Kelsey, Nicole and Michelle Gilbert. Her daughter Amy Travis Ross, husband Arthur Ross of Weymouth and grandchildren Travis and Jackie Ross. Predeceased by her sister Elizabeth “Beth” Henneberry and husband David Henneberry. She is also survived by nephew Robert Duffy and family and niece Kelly Murray and family. Judy was a loving mother and a devoted Nana who will be sadly missed by all.
