Judith F. Mccarthy

McCarthy, Judith F. (McCann) of Milton, formerly of Wollaston, passed away January 17, 2013.

Beloved wife of James J. McCarthy of Milton. Loving mother of Jeanne O’Brien and her partner Ken Maider of Milton, Beth Capitula and her husband David of Watervliet, NY, Brian McCarthy of Merrimack, NH, and Nancy Phelan and her husband Colonel John of Mons, Belgium. Cherished grandmother of Shawn and his wife Dianne, Bradford and Jenna O’Brien, Quinn and Mitchell Capitula, Kevin and Courtney McCarthy, Travis, Keneally, Shamus, and Wesley Phelan. Sister of the late Jean McCann.

Judy was born in Arlington and grew up in Somerville. She had been a Medical Secretary in the Seton Medical Office Building of Carney Hospital for many years and also worked at Northeastern University where she met her husband Jim. They married, raised four children and lived for 40 years in the Wollaston section of Quincy, prior to living in Milton for the past 4 years. She was passionate about singing and music. As a youth she was in the high school choir, sang in a band and in her later years with the Fuller Village Choir in Milton. Judy was a terrific first mate and enjoyed years of sailing including trips from Nantucket to Maine in calm or turbulent seas. Judy and Jim enjoyed walking their dog Hershey. Above all else Judy’s family and friends were the focal point of her life and Judy will be remembered with a smile on her face and a friendly disposition.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Donations in memory of Judy may be made to Alzheimers Association, MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or online at www.alz.org.
