Judith E. Devlin, of Quincy, an employee of the Hyatt Place in Braintree, lost her battle with addiction on March 18, 2016. She was 49.
Born in Boston, Judy was raised in Quincy graduating from Quincy High School and Quincy College. She lived in the Houghs Neck section of Quincy for many years.
She enjoyed boat rides to Peddock’s Island, always insisted on extra jimmies on her ice cream, and could never pass up a sunset by the water. She and her daughter, Christina liked to be out in the storm together whether it was a hurricane or a blizzard. Judy was a fan of all classic TV shows, such as, I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, and MASH.
Regardless of her struggle, she will be remembered by all who knew her as one of the most loving and caring souls. Though addiction is typically seen as a selfish disease, Judy contradicted that because she constantly offered more than she was capable of giving, which is a true testament of how big of a heart she had.
Judy was the wife of the late Brian Picard, the loving mother of Christina Devlin, the devoted daughter of Margaret and Edward Devlin, the beloved sister of Joseph Devlin and his wife Kara and the special aunt and godmother to Julia and Ava Devlin, all of Quincy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home. Interment private.
Donations in Judy’s memory may be made to Gavin Foundation 675 E. 4th Street South Boston, MA 02127 or to a substance abuse treatment program.
