Josephine T. Gangitano

Gangitano, Josephine T. (DiFranco) of Quincy, age 94, died December 4, 2013.

Josephine’s life revolved around her family and her job.  She loved her family and enjoyed taking part in every gathering.  Her deep faith was also an important part of her life.  An independent women, she has lived in her home for 58 years, even up to her recent illness, and enjoyed maintaining it over the years.  She was a cashier for Stop & Shop for over 53 years, most recently working in the Hingham store.  This became her social center after her husband passed and Josephine had many close co-workers and customers.  She will be remembered for her sense of humor, intelligence, caring manner and her gentle soul. 

Beloved wife of the late Anthony Gangitano.  Loving mother of Frances Ricciarelli and her husband Michael of Hingham, Anthony Gangitano and his wife Elizabeth of Raynham, and  Carl Gangitano and his wife Kathleen of Stoughton. Sister of the late Fred DiFranco and Mary Falcione.  Nana to Craig, Michael, Debbie, Gina, Paul, Bryan, Chris, Greg and Andrea.  Also survived by 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston.
