Josephine Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, Josephine (McMahon) of Hingham, died June 9, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Robert N. Fitzgerald.  Loving mother of Robert “Bob” Fitzgerald and his wife Liz of of St. Louis, MO, Donald “Donnie” Fitzgerald and his wife Jean of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Fitzgerald and his wife Heidi of Las Vegas, NV, Sean Fitzgerald and his wife Sheryl of Hingham, Roger Fitzgerald and his wife Jean of Massillon, Ohio, Wayne Fitzgerald and his wife Lynda of Weymouth and the late Barry Fitzgerald.  Sister of Anna Rivard of Florida, Donnie McMahon of New Jersey, Nuela Rooney of Michigan and Paddy(Anna) McMahon of County Clare, Ireland.  Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren, and aunt of many nieces and nephews. 

Josephine was born May 15, 1928 at Spancil Hill, Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, one of nine children of the late Donatious and Maria McMahon.  She and her husband, Robert, reared their seven sons in Hingham, Massachusetts.  Josephine was a woman of deep faith and love of God, and love for her family.  She cherished time with family and friends, playing board and card games, traveling, and volunteering.  Her sense of humor and story-telling were  special gifts to all who knew her. Nana treasured her grandchildren Mark, Griffin, Megan, John, Katie, Rachel, Emily, Dillon, Zach, and Melanie.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Hingham, Thursday, June 18, at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Josephine may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
