McDermott, Joseph P. of Quincy formerly of Dorchester, June 20, 2010. Beloved father of Stephen McDermott of Quincy. Loving son of the late Robert McDermott and Mary (Donahue). Cherished brother of Rose McDermott of South Boston, Kathleen Bellew of Weymouth, Margaret “Micki” Connolly of Plymouth, Kevin McDermott of Dorchester, Paul McDermott of Weymouth and the late Robert and Edward McDermott. Dear friend of Sally Hockenbury. Joe will be sadly missed by Cameron, Danielle and Corinne. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe’s life was centered around his son Stephen and their extended family. They spent many vacations together in New Hampshire. A generous man by nature, Joe was always helping others with his handyman skills. He was a perfectionist and had a tremendous work ethic. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Thursday, June 24, 2010 prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
