Joseph P. Lally, Sr.

Lally, Joseph P., Sr. of Braintree, age 82, went to Heaven unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 17th at home.

Devoted husband of Elaine M. (Sullivan) of 57 years. Loving father of Marie McCarthy and husband Kevin of Weymouth; Joanne Smith and husband Jimmy; Laureen Guilderson and husband John, DFD, all of Kingston; Joseph Lally, Jr. and wife Susan of No. Reading; Paul Lally and wife Heidi of Milton; Christopher Lally and wife Judy of Hanover; and Michael Lally LT, SCSD of Quincy. Also survived by 17 awesome grandchildren that he cherished, especially the late Mikey Burke Lally, USN. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Glennon during the Korean War. He was a member of the Heat and Frost Insulators Union, Local #6. Employed by Children’s Hospital for many years. He was the proud founder of J P Lally & Sons Painting Co. Joe was known for his genuine kindness, contagious smile and ability to listen to those he loved. His favorite saying was “Be Nice”. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.
