Aleksun, Joseph P. of Quincy formerly of Dorchester March 6, 2008. Beloved husband of Ruth I. (Kemno) Aleksun of Quincy, Devoted father of Robert J. Aleksun of Marion, ME and Bonita Springs FL, brother of Helen Grams of CA, and the late Julian and Edward Aleksun, Monica Suchecki, Veronica Bacon, and Jennie Miller, Loving grandfather of Briar Aleksun of FL. Joseph was born in Cambridge and was raised in Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston Latin Academy. Mr. Aleksun was a WWll Merchant Marine Veteran and survived two sinking ships as a radio operator. He was very proud of playing amature hockey well into his fifty’s. Joseph worked as a Union Brick layer for Local #32 for 30 years retiring in 1977. After retiring Joe went to work for Carney Hospital in Dorchester as a Security Officer where he continuied to work for the past 25 years until his death. He was and avid sports fan and in his younger years played park league football for the Savin Hill Trojan’s. Joe was a member of the McKeon Post #146 and the Old Dorchester Post #65 both in Dorchester. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4- 7 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston.
