Joseph Francis McConville, Jr. of Quincy, passed away on March 9, 2025.
Born in Quincy, he was the son of Joseph F. and Margaret (McAvoy) McConville. A lifelong Quincy resident, he was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Northeastern University and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Joe was the husband of the late Barbara Anne (Donahue) McConville for 57 years. He was also the father of Joseph and his wife Susan of North Attleboro, MA, James and his wife Maria of Watersound, FL, John and his wife Ruthie of Quincy, MA, Paul of Quincy MA, and Mary Kate Falkenstrom and her husband Ed of Bellingham, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Michael, Jessica, Joseph, Ryan, Bridget, Danny, Katie, Emma, and Charlotte. He was also the great grandfather of Patton, Noah, Wren, and Carmen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his sister Marilyn of Quincy, MA and brother Robert and his wife Sue of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was predeceased by his brother William of Roswell, GA and David of Quincy, MA.
Joe spent his career working in personnel at the Boston Gear Works. He was active in the community in several volunteer roles such as the Quincy Planning Board and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish. He was named Quincy Sun’s Citizen of the Year in 1995. He was active in various Quincy youth athletic programs such as Quincy Youth Hockey as both an instructor and a coach. He was admitted to both the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame and the Quincy High School Hall of Fame in recognition of his dedicated youth activity leadership.
Joe was known for his devotion to his family, friends, and community. He loved to putter and was an avid sports fan, rooting for all the local teams. In addition, he loved to spend time at the family summer home in Deer Isle, ME. He will be missed by everyone he touched.
Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 21 from 4-7 pm at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St, Quincy, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 22 at 11 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 227 Sea Street, Quincy, MA. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral mass at the Pine Hill Cemetery, 815 Willard Street, Quincy MA.
